Last week, we watched smoke rise over Northwood and held our breath while the Upriver Fire tore through our neighborhood. Fire crews and EMS worked around the clock — through wind, heat, and exhaustion — to protect homes that belong to people we know. Neighbors. Friends. Maybe you.
We want to say thank you the only way we know how: with glass, and with our hands.
Join us at Casting Glass Stones for a community block party — come and go as you please, make as many fused glass hearts as you'd like, in any colors that speak to you. No experience needed, we'll guide you the whole way through. Once they're fired and finished, we'll gather every heart made that day and deliver them together as one collective gift to the fire and EMS crews who responded to the Upriver Fire.
This one isn't about a finished piece to take home. It's about putting something warm into the hands of the people who ran toward the fire while the rest of us ran away from it.
