Ebbie Shellans
I'm a Spokane-based fused glass artist who fell in love with glass after more than twenty years of exploring a variety of artistic mediums. My glass journey began in 2017 while living in Portland, where I took my first class at Bullseye Glass. From that moment, I was hooked — I just kept wanting to learn more and explore everything this medium had to offer.
My passion lies in creating unique and memorable glass art that captures light, color, and texture in unexpected ways. Using a range of glass types and techniques, I shape and layer my pieces to bring depth and dimension to each creation. I'm constantly pushing my artistic limits — learning new methods and finding fresh inspiration within the vibrant glass art community.
Sharing my love for glass is an essential part of my journey. Through teaching, I aim to spark curiosity and creativity in others, guiding students as they develop their own artistic voice and craft high-quality, one-of-a-kind pieces.

For me, the best part of fused glass is the magic that happens behind the kiln door — watching layers of glass fuse and flow to create movement within an otherwise rigid medium. I first discovered fused glass in high school in Wyoming, later earning a bachelor's degree in communications before moving to Spokane on a whim in 2023, where I reconnected with the craft at Casting Glass Stones and was immediately captivated all over again.
Since then, I've explored a wide range of projects — from tiny keychains to 15-inch wall art — using each piece as a chance to experiment, learn, and play with color and form. My inspiration comes from whatever I love most in the moment, whether that's sea life, dresses, flowers, or a color combination that simply sparks joy. Through teaching, I hope students feel the same joy that inspired my work, along with a glimpse into my own ever-evolving, ever-curious way of seeing the world.
Kim Girard
I teach both glass mosaic and glass fusing at Casting Glass Stones, and I love helping students bring their own beautiful projects to life. I'm a retired primary school teacher, and I bring that same patience and encouragement into the studio — helping students build confidence with each new technique. Outside the studio, I stay inspired through hiking, biking, reading, gardening, and cooking.

Just over two years ago, I discovered the world of fused glass through a chance introduction to Ebbie, the artist behind Casting Glass Stones. From that very first encounter, I was hooked — what started as curiosity quickly blossomed into a full and joyful immersion into all things glass.
Under Ebbie's guidance, I have embraced the craft wholeheartedly, learning new techniques, exploring endless possibilities, and letting creativity lead the way. My inspiration comes from the desire to see others create something they thought impossible, and to ignite a spark that begins their own creative journey. While I still consider myself a student at heart, I'm thrilled to be stepping into the role of teacher, sharing my enthusiasm and creativity with others. For me, glass isn't just art — it's a community, a calling, and a whole lot of fun.
